Then he began to tell us about the nightwatchman's duties and what life was like in medieval Rothenburg. Being a nightwatchman was the third lowest profession. Below the nightwatchman was the grave digger. But the lowest (socially) was the executioner. If you're ever in Rothenberg, spending the evening with Hans is highly recommended.
