Dachau18 Memorial to the Victims The survivors of the Dachau concentration camp accomplished the creation of a Memorial Site by 1965. This task was essentially completed with the erection of the International Memorial on the former roll-call area in 1968. The Bavarian government and the Comité International de Dachau signed an agreement establishing their future joint responsibility for the Memorial Site. In the 1970s and the 1980s the Memorial Site developed more and more into a place of learning and remembrance that found worldwide interest. The annual visitor numbers are approaching the one million mark.
