Bacharach08 The Posthof (post house) This one dates from 1724 when the post was delivered by stage coach. Notice the bulb-shaped bumpers at the lower corners of the arched doorway. These were to ensure that carriage wheels cleared the doorway. The building dates back to the year 1593 and it became a "Thurn & Taxis-Post Office" in 1724. It was the post office of Bacharach till the year 1987. Posthof is used as a museum today and also the tourist-information office is there in the same building and a souvenir-shop. The best part of that building is certainly the inner court.
