Bacharach04 This is Herr Jung's Jewish childhood friend who now lives in New York. Under the Nazi regime, it wasn't safe for Jews to remain in Germany. Herr Jung was helping him to escape. At the border crossing, the guard examining this guy's papers could have turned him in which would have meant almost certain death. But the guard looked both ways over his shoulder (to make sure no one in authority was watching) and let Her Jung's friend pass. But to hear Herr Jung tell the story carried so much more emotional impact. You could truly hear in his voice the initial fear for and subsequent relief his friend would live.
