The farmhouse from Harreveld

This was a typical farmhouse in the 14th century. It had a thatched roof and a simple, common room inside. It was also painted blue because it was thought or found that blue is less appealing to flies.

There is a cistern out in front to catch rainwater. The water was drawn by attaching a bucket to the end of the pole and raising it via the fulcrum.
