Reputed to have been used at York Castle
Whipping was common for minor offenses. The offender was stripped to the waist and whipped along a public street. The public whipping of women was abolished in 1817, but continued for men until the 1830's.

Waist Girdle with attached manacles to pinion the arms.
Traditionally said to have been worn by Dick Turpin.
