Officer's Pistol

Privately purchased, this pistol is better made than those issued to the troops. The ramrod is attached by a swivel to stop it being lost if dropped during reloading on a horse.

Officer's Gorget

A last remnant of amour, worn to show an officer was on duty. This one was worn by a local officer at the Battle of Waterloo

Used on horseback, this style of slashing sword was very effective against other horsemen or foot soldiers.
