iona07 Site of St John's Cross This concrete replica was erected in 1970, when the original was moved inside after it collapsed for the second time in a century. It is now in the infirmary museum. The small building behind the cross is the St Columba Shrine. St Columba's Shrine The lowest courses of this small chapel predate the present church and may have housed the St Columba's Shrine before it was removed in the ninth century. The present building was erected on the earlier foundation in 1975.
