This house occupies the same site as a Roman mansio c 200 AD and a Medieval abbey c 1150. The present tudor building was erected around 1480 and given its stone facade in the 1720s.



In 1680, Sally Lunn came here from France where the (Protestant) Huguenots were being persecuted. Working in this bakehouse she created one of Bath's renowned delicacies, the Sally Lunn Bun, which is still baked here today.
